If you've been considering buying a skincare device, you've probably asked yourself one question: Which one is actually worth the money?

Medicube has become one of Korea's most popular beauty device brands, but with several models available at very different price points, choosing the right one isn't always easy.

As a medical professional with a background in cosmetology—and after using the new Booster Pro X2 myself—I genuinely believe a well-chosen beauty device can be a worthwhile investment.

Medicube AGE-R Booster Mini Plus

If you're new to beauty devices, the AGE-R Booster Mini Plus is one of the easiest Medicube devices to incorporate into your routine.

It combines Glow Poration technology with LED light therapy in a compact, beginner-friendly design, while optional attachment heads allow you to expand its capabilities over time.

Its focus isn't on intensive anti-aging treatments, but on making your everyday skincare routine more effective and enjoyable.

How it works

The AGE-R Booster Mini Plus uses Medicube's Booster (Glow Poration) technology to help enhance the absorption of your skincare products while promoting a healthy-looking glow. The device offers three LED modes, allowing you to tailor each treatment to your skin's needs.

  • ❤️ Red Mode: Designed to enhance radiance and brighten dull-looking skin.

  • 💙 Blue Mode: Best suited for oily or blemish-prone skin, helping support pore care and sebum control.

  • 💜 Purple Mode: Designed to maximize the performance of hydrating and glow-boosting skincare products.

Personal Note: I view the LED modes as a nice bonus. If you're investing in a device primarily for LED therapy, I'd still choose a dedicated LED mask over the built-in LEDs found here.

Unlike the Booster Pro, the Mini Plus is built around one core treatment technology. If you purchase the optional attachments, it can also be transformed into a facial cleansing device or an EMS contouring device. The Mini Plus itself serves as the powered core of the system, sliding into the attachment base to activate its specific function.

Best for

  • Beginners who are buying their first beauty device

  • Dull or dehydrated skin

  • Daily glow maintenance

  • Frequent travelers

  • Anyone looking for a simple, low-maintenance device

Not ideal for

  • Noticeable skin laxity

  • Deep wrinkles

  • Facial contouring

  • Anyone looking for an advanced anti-aging device

Time commitment

Approximately 5 minutes per day, making it one of the easiest Medicube devices to incorporate into your daily routine.

For the best results

Pair the Booster Mini Plus with a hydrating, water-based serum or lightweight gel cream that allows the device to glide comfortably across the skin. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, panthenol, peptides, and centella asiatica work particularly well.

Avoid using the device on completely dry skin, and skip products containing high concentrations of exfoliating acids or retinoids unless the manufacturer specifically states they are suitable for use with the device.

Medicube AGE-R Booster Mini Plus

Medicube AGE-R Booster Mini Plus

What makes it unique?

The Booster Mini Plus is the only Medicube device that can be expanded with optional attachment heads. Depending on the version you purchase, it can function as more than just a skincare booster.

Facial Cleansing Head

This attachment transforms the Mini Plus into a sonic cleansing device by combining soft silicone bristles with sonic vibration and gentle EMS stimulation.

One of my favorite details: the silicone bristles are incredibly soft, making daily cleansing feel gentle rather than abrasive.

Best for:

For the best results

Use it with your regular water-based cleanser, whether it's a gel, cream, or low-pH foaming cleanser. Cleansing oils, cleansing balms, and physical scrubs aren't ideal, as they don't work as effectively with the silicone bristles.

Keep in mind that this is primarily a cleansing accessory. While the integrated EMS provides gentle muscle stimulation, it isn't intended to replace Medicube's dedicated lifting devices.

Booster V Roller

The V Roller attachment combines dual massage rollers with EMS to provide gentle facial massage and improve the appearance of facial contours.

Best for:

  • Morning puffiness

  • Jawline definition

  • Facial massage

  • Neck massage

For the best results

Use the V Roller with a conductive gel, or alternatively a thicker hydrating serum or lightweight gel moisturizer to help the rollers glide smoothly over the skin. Avoid using it on dry skin, as this can make the treatment less comfortable.

Keep in mind that this is an accessory designed for facial contouring. Unlike the Booster Pro or Ultra Tune, it doesn't stimulate collagen or provide advanced anti-aging treatments.

AGE-R Booster Mini Plus Full Set

Medicube AGE-R Booster Mini Plus Full Set

My recommendation

The Booster Mini Plus is an excellent choice if you're buying your first beauty device or simply want an easy way to elevate your daily skincare routine. It's compact, travel-friendly, and much more affordable than Medicube's premium devices.

If your primary goals are healthier-looking, more radiant skin and better skincare absorption, it's a great place to start. However, if you're mainly concerned about skin laxity, deeper wrinkles, or visible lifting, you'll likely get better results from the Booster Pro or Ultra Tune series.

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro

If you're looking for one device that can address multiple skin concerns, the AGE-R Booster Pro is Medicube's most versatile option.

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro

While the Booster Mini Plus focuses primarily on enhancing your daily skincare routine, the Booster Pro combines four treatment technologies in a single device to target dullness, enlarged pores, uneven texture, early signs of aging, and mild skin laxity.

How it works

The Booster Pro combines four treatment modes, each designed to target a different skin concern.

1. Air Shot Mode

Technology: Electrical micro-needling

Air Shot creates microscopic pathways in the outermost layer of the skin without using needles. It's designed to refine the appearance of enlarged pores, improve uneven skin texture, and gently exfoliate the skin.

Best for: Enlarged pores, rough skin texture, and dull skin.

2. Booster Mode

Technology: Electroporation

Booster Mode uses electroporation to enhance the absorption of skincare products, making it ideal for getting the most out of your hydrating and brightening serums.

Best for: Dull or dehydrated skin and maximizing the performance of your skincare routine.

3. MC Mode

Technology: Microcurrent

MC Mode delivers gentle microcurrents designed to improve the appearance of skin firmness and soften the look of fine lines, particularly around the forehead, eyes, and mouth.

Best for: Early signs of aging, fine lines, and mild loss of firmness.

4. Derma Shot Mode

Technology: EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation)

Derma Shot uses EMS to stimulate facial muscles, helping improve the appearance of facial contours and jawline definition.

Best for: Mild skin laxity and facial contouring.

Recommended for

  • People looking for one device that addresses multiple skin concerns

  • Dull or dehydrated skin

  • Enlarged pores and uneven skin texture

  • Fine lines and early signs of aging

  • Mild loss of firmness

  • Anyone who prefers one versatile device over several specialized tools

Not ideal for

  • Active inflammatory acne or broken skin

  • A compromised skin barrier

  • Very sensitive skin that doesn't tolerate electrical stimulation well

  • Those looking for a quick glow-focused device

  • Anyone wanting a simple, low-maintenance skincare routine

Time commitment

Most users spend around 5 to 10 minutes per day, depending on the treatment mode. Air Shot should generally be limited to 2 to 3 times per week, while the remaining modes can easily be incorporated into your regular skincare routine.

For the best results

Each treatment mode works best with slightly different products.

  • Air Shot: Always use on clean, completely dry skin before applying any skincare products.

  • Booster Mode: Pair with a hydrating or brightening serum to maximize product absorption.

  • MC Mode: Use with a generous layer of hydrating serum or a lightweight gel cream to help the device glide comfortably across the skin.

  • Derma Shot Mode: Works best with a thicker serum or gel that provides enough slip during treatment.

Avoid using strong exfoliating acids or high-strength retinoids immediately before Booster Mode, as enhanced absorption may increase the risk of irritation.

What makes it unique?

Unlike the Booster Mini Plus, which focuses on a single treatment technology, the Booster Pro combines four specialized treatment modes in one device.

It's an excellent option if your skin concerns are likely to change over time or if you simply want one versatile device rather than several specialized tools.

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro

My recommendation

The Booster Pro is the device I'd recommend to most people. If you have multiple skin concerns and want one device that can grow with your skincare routine, it offers the best balance of versatility and value.

Compared with the Booster Mini Plus, it requires a little more time and commitment, but it also offers significantly more treatment options.

If your main concerns include enlarged pores, early signs of aging, mild skin laxity, and uneven skin texture, the Booster Pro is likely the better investment. If, on the other hand, you're mainly looking for a simple device to boost hydration and radiance, the Booster Mini Plus may be all you need.

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro X2

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro X2

As Medicube's newest flagship device, the AGE-R Booster Pro X2 builds on everything that made the original Booster Pro so popular while introducing several meaningful upgrades. It retains the same four core treatment modes but adds new features that make treatments faster, more customizable, and more convenient.

How it works

Like the original Booster Pro, the X2 combines four treatment technologies in a single device:

  • Air Shot: Electrical micro-needling to improve skin texture and the appearance of enlarged pores.

  • Booster Mode: Electroporation to enhance the absorption of skincare products.

  • MC Mode: Microcurrent to improve the appearance of skin firmness and fine lines.

  • Derma Shot Mode: EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) to support facial contours.

In addition to these core modes, the X2 introduces three new features:

  • Dual Mode: Allows compatible treatment modes to run simultaneously, reducing overall treatment time.

  • Mask Mode: Optimized for use with sheet masks and intensive hydration treatments.

  • AI Mode: Connects with the AGE-R app to provide personalized treatment recommendations based on your usage.

What's new compared to the Booster Pro?

Although the two devices share the same core technologies, the X2 introduces several practical improvements.

  • Higher maximum intensity with six intensity levels instead of five.

  • Larger treatment head for quicker full-face treatments.

  • More powerful output across the treatment modes.

  • Dual Mode for combining treatments in a single session.

  • Mask Mode and AI Mode, which aren't available on the original Booster Pro.

Overall, the X2 feels less like a completely new device and more like a refined, more powerful version of the Booster Pro.

Best for

  • People who want Medicube's most advanced all-in-one device

  • Multiple skin concerns

  • Fine lines and early signs of aging

  • Mild skin laxity

  • Enlarged pores and uneven skin texture

  • Experienced beauty device users

Not ideal for

  • Active inflammatory acne or a compromised skin barrier

  • Those looking for a quick glow-focused device

  • Anyone wanting a very simple skincare routine

  • People who are unlikely to use the device consistently

Time commitment

Most treatments take around 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the mode. Thanks to Dual Mode, some treatments can be combined, making the X2 quicker to use than the original Booster Pro.

For the best results

As with the Booster Pro, each treatment mode works best with different types of skincare products.

For a complete guide to choosing the right products for every mode, check out my dedicated Medicube Booster Pro X2 guide, where I also share my favorite product recommendations.

What makes it unique?

The Booster Pro X2 takes everything the original Booster Pro does well and makes it more efficient. Rather than introducing completely new treatment technologies, it focuses on improving the user experience through stronger performance, additional treatment modes, and faster routines.

If you're deciding between the two, think of the Booster Pro as the excellent all-rounder, while the X2 is the premium version designed for people who want the latest features and don't mind paying more.

medicube Age-R Booster Pro X2

Medicube Age-R Booster Pro X2

My recommendation

If you're buying your first premium Medicube device and your budget allows it, I'd choose the Booster Pro X2 over the original Booster Pro. The upgrades aren't revolutionary, but they do make the device easier and more enjoyable to use in the long run.

However, if you already own the original Booster Pro, upgrading isn't essential unless features like Dual Mode, the larger treatment head, or the increased intensity are particularly important to you.

Medicube AGE-R Booster Glow

Officially launched in May 2026 alongside the AGE-R Booster Pro X2, the Booster Glow is one of Medicube's newest beauty devices.

Unlike the Booster Pro X2, which quickly became available internationally, the Booster Glow is still exclusive to South Korea at the time of writing. I'm hoping Medicube expands its global availability soon, because I think it has the potential to become one of the brand's most popular devices.

Unlike the Booster Pro series, which focuses on lifting, facial contouring, and multiple anti-aging technologies, the Booster Glow is designed for those whose main goal is healthy, hydrated, radiant skin.

How it works

The Booster Glow uses triple-frequency ultrasound (1, 3, and 10 MHz) to deliver ultrasound energy at different skin depths. This technology, known as sonophoresis, may help improve the penetration of skincare ingredients while providing a gentle facial massage and supporting skin hydration.

The device offers five treatment modes—Boost, Focus, Glow, Calming, and Master—along with five intensity levels. Rather than using different technologies, each mode adjusts the ultrasound stimulation pattern to target concerns such as hydration, radiance, firmness, or soothing.

Unlike Medicube's other beauty devices, the Booster Glow was also designed to work alongside the brand's iconic capsule creams. These creams are formulated to complement the device, allowing users to tailor treatments to specific skin concerns while making the most of the ultrasound technology. Of course, you can also use the device with your favorite hydrating serums and moisturizers.

Best for

  • Dull or tired-looking skin

  • Dehydrated skin

  • Daily glow maintenance

  • Anyone who enjoys hydrating serums and moisturizers

  • People looking for a relaxing, spa-like skincare experience

Not ideal for

  • Noticeable skin laxity or facial sagging

  • Anyone primarily looking for lifting or facial contouring

  • Deep wrinkles as the main concern

  • Those wanting a multi-treatment anti-aging device

What makes it unique?

The Booster Glow is currently the only Medicube device to use triple-frequency ultrasound, making it quite different from the rest of the AGE-R lineup.

Its drop-shaped treatment head also makes it easy to treat smaller areas, such as around the nose and under the eyes.

My recommendation

If your biggest goal is achieving healthy, hydrated, glowing skin, the Booster Glow is one of the most interesting additions to Medicube's lineup. For readers outside South Korea, it may genuinely be worth waiting to see whether Medicube gives it a wider global release, especially if radiance and hydration matter more to you than lifting.

However, if you're looking for a device that also targets skin laxity, enlarged pores, facial contouring, or multiple signs of aging, I'd still recommend the Booster Pro or Booster Pro X2. Those devices are considerably more versatile, whereas the Booster Glow is designed specifically for enhancing skin quality and supporting your daily skincare routine.

Medicube AGE-R High Focus Shot Plus

Officially launched in October 2025, the AGE-R High Focus Shot Plus is one of Medicube's most specialized anti-aging devices.

Rather than focusing on skincare absorption or overall skin quality, it's designed specifically to improve the appearance of facial contours, skin firmness, and mild skin laxity.

How it works

The High Focus Shot Plus uses micro-focused ultrasound (MFU) to deliver concentrated ultrasound energy into the deeper supporting layers of the skin without damaging the surface. This controlled thermal stimulation helps support collagen remodeling while improving the appearance of skin firmness and facial contours.

The device also includes five LED colors that can be adjusted through the Medicube app.

  • ❤️ Red: Firmness and elasticity

  • 🧡 Orange: Brightening and radiance

  • 💚 Green: Skin texture and volume

  • 💙 Blue: Sebum and pore care

  • 💜 Purple: Skincare absorption support

While the LED modes are a welcome addition, I'd consider them a complementary feature rather than a deciding factor. If LED therapy is your main goal, a dedicated LED mask or panel will generally provide a more effective treatment.

Best for

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity

  • Jawline definition

  • Loss of facial contours

  • Fine lines and reduced elasticity

  • Those looking for an at-home lifting treatment

Not ideal for

  • Beginners looking for a simple daily beauty device

  • Hydration or glow as the primary goal

  • Enlarged pores as the main concern

  • Anyone wanting a device for everyday use

Time commitment

Approximately 5–10 minutes per session, 1–2 times per week.

For the best results

Unlike the Booster devices, the High Focus Shot Plus requires a dedicated conductive gel. Never use the device on dry skin, as ultrasound energy relies on the gel to travel safely and effectively into the skin.

After your treatment, you can continue with your regular skincare routine, making hydrating and barrier-supporting products a great choice.

What makes it unique?

The High Focus Shot Plus is currently Medicube's dedicated MFU device, making it one of the brand's most specialized options for facial lifting and skin tightening.

Unlike the Booster devices, which primarily focus on skincare absorption, hydration, or overall skin quality, the High Focus Shot Plus is designed to target facial contours, skin firmness, and mild skin laxity.

It's also one of the few Medicube devices intended for weekly treatments rather than daily use, making it a better fit for users looking for a dedicated lifting treatment rather than an everyday skincare companion.

Medicube AGE-R High Focus Shot Plus

Medicube AGE-R High Focus Shot Plus

My recommendation

If your biggest concern is facial lifting, contour definition, and mild skin laxity, the High Focus Shot Plus is one of the most compelling devices in Medicube's lineup. Its MFU technology makes it a great option for those looking for an at-home lifting treatment and who don't mind using it as a dedicated weekly treatment rather than a daily routine.

However, if your priorities are hydration, radiance, enlarged pores, or getting more out of your skincare products, one of the Booster devices will likely be a better fit. And if your primary concern is overall skin firmness, elasticity, and collagen support rather than lifting facial contours, I'd lean toward the Ultra Tune 40.68.

Medicube AGE-R Ultra Tune 40.68

If skin firmness has become your biggest concern, the AGE-R Ultra Tune 40.68 is probably the most targeted device in Medicube's lineup.

Medicube AGE-R Ultra Tune 40.68

It's designed for people who are beginning to notice loss of facial definition, deeper wrinkles, or reduced skin elasticity and want a device dedicated to anti-aging.

Its focus isn't instant radiance, but gradually improving skin firmness and elasticity over time.

How it works

The Ultra Tune 40.68 combines 40.68 MHz radiofrequency (RF) with microcurrent (MC) technology.

Radiofrequency delivers controlled heat into the deeper layers of the skin to support collagen remodeling, while microcurrent provides gentle electrical stimulation to help improve the appearance of skin firmness and facial contours.

Best for

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity

  • Loss of facial firmness

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Reduced facial definition

  • Those looking for a dedicated anti-aging device

Not ideal for

  • Younger users whose main goal is hydration or radiance

  • Enlarged pores as the primary concern

  • Improving skincare absorption

  • Anyone looking for a quick "glass skin" effect

Time commitment

Approximately 5 minutes per day, with the option to extend the treatment if desired.

For the best results

Unlike most radiofrequency devices, the Ultra Tune doesn't require a dedicated conductive gel. Simply complete your skincare routine, allow your products to absorb fully, and then begin your treatment.

Since this device isn't designed to enhance product absorption, you don't need to worry about choosing specific serums. Instead, focus on a consistent routine that supports skin hydration and barrier health.

What makes it unique?

The Ultra Tune is Medicube's first device built around radiofrequency technology, bringing a treatment previously associated mainly with professional clinics into an at-home format.

By combining radiofrequency with microcurrent, it focuses on improving skin firmness and elasticity, making it an excellent choice for those whose concerns have moved beyond hydration and radiance.

Medicube AGE-R Ultra Tune 40.68

My recommendation

If loss of firmness and elasticity has become your biggest concern, the Ultra Tune 40.68 is the Medicube device I'd choose. Its focused approach makes it especially appealing for those who want to prioritize firmer, smoother-looking skin rather than addressing multiple concerns at once.

If your priorities are still hydration, radiance, skincare absorption, or enlarged pores, one of the Booster devices will probably be a better fit.
